About Marilyn
Marilyn Moravec, M.A., has served in various ministries for over thirty-five years. Some of these include counseling dean at Columbia Bible College and Moody Bible Institute, and fourteen years as Minister of Adult Education and Counseling at Elim, a Baptist General Conference church in Chicago. More recently she served for over seven years as Director of Church Nurture for the Midwest district of the BGC (now called "Converge International"), doing conflict interventions and leadership training in the district churches. She has presented at more than thirty retreats for pastors and wives and another twenty overseas for missionaries, in addition to presenting for lay people at retreats and seminars since 1980.
Among her favorite activities since she’s retired from her counseling office in 2008 are round dancing and square dancing, good exercise for the brain and the heart! She has recently earned a certification in natural health. Marilyn is single and enjoys her loved ones and friends and her house with its wonderful backyard. Not far away is her only sister and husband, four nieces and their families, including six children. She feels blessed in a thousand ways.
In January, 2015, Marilyn had a major stroke on the right side of her body. She spent months in rehab and is now able to walk with a cane and uses an electric wheelchair for long distances. In October, she sold her house and moved to Peace Village in Palos Park, Illinois, a retirement community. She is busy writing a small group discussion guide on, "Aging Joyfully." Because her right hand is inoperative, she uses a computer program which types what she dictates. The material has already been used at a Converge Church with over 30 seniors attending, ages 59 to 86. She has also used some of her materials teaching here at Peace. Her apartment overlooks a beautiful pond, and she thanks the Lord daily for leading her to this community.
